An open source peer to peer client that allows users to share movies, music and other files
eMule is a simple, user-friendly P2P file-sharing program, usually used to download music, movies or other media files. It is the most widely used eDonkey client. The interface is sharp-looking and built to be navigated easily. There is a row of large buttons across the top, and an organized bar on the right that makes it easy to sort different files.
On the "Search" tab, a user can type in the name of the file for which he or she is searching, and can select the preferred file type. The results can be sorted by file size or by availability. eMule functions using eDonkey and Kad protocols. It has amongst the highest number of search results for any keyword, although, as is the case with any P2P network, many files are mislabeled, fake or incomplete. There are several eMule modifications available to help weed out those fraudulent files.
eMule does not support the use of torrent files. While eMule is built to maximize download speeds, large files will take less time when torrented. Small files, such as music, pictures or e-books, will download quickly and should be safe.
Unlike some P2P clients, eMule has a built-in ability to preview files using media-player programs such as VLC. This is an important feature as the user can check to be sure that the song or video they are downloading is in fact the one they had wanted.
When using a file-sharing P2P client, it is important to choose a safe and fast program. eMule is among the most well-known P2P programs available. More than 90 percent of peers of the eDonkey network use eMule. eMule does not come packaged with malware. It does not record information on you or on your downloads.
